MultiSearch Basic

Step 1

Type in your Search term/terms:

MultiSearch Header

  • Use the Books, article & more dropdown.
  • Type in the book title or the author's last name, first name or any keywords into the Search box

TipUse Double Quotation Marks. When a phrase is enclosed by double quotations marks, the exact phrase is searched.

  • Click Search.

Step 2

Refine your search with filters:

  • Use the filters on the Left hand column of the results list to refine your search eg. Peer-reviewed Journals, Resource Type, Subject Keyword, Date..
  • ​Click on Show More for the full list of choices for each filter.

TipYou can use the arrows next to each header to expand or collapse that section.

When you have selected the filters you wish to use click 'Apply Filters' at the bottom of the column

Step 3

Get your items

There are two different types of items: physical and electronic

Physical Items

Physical items will say "Available at" or "Check Availability"  Click on the record to see more information. 

1. If the record says Available at Macquarie University Library Level 1 / Level 2 that means the item is on the open shelf.  Check for its Call Number and Status. 

TipLook at the Call Number:

If it starts with letters from A to J, it is on Level 2 (Entrance Level).
If it starts with letters from K to Z, it is on Level 1.


2.  If the record says Available at Macquarie University Library Automated Retrieval Collection 

You need to place a  request for the item and then pick it up from the Hold shelf in the Reserve Collection on Level 2 of the Library

3. If it says Check availability click into the record for more information.  This generally means that an item is on loan or otherwise unavailable.  You an place a request on items that are on loan.

Electronic Items

If the record says Online Access  or Full-text available that means the item is an electronic resource.

Click anywhere on the record to access it. You will find the links in the View It section.

You may be prompted to sign in with your OneID.

You can read the resource online and may be able to download to read offline.
