Metastatic cancer is when the cancer has spread to distant skin sites, lymph nodes or internal organs. Secondary cancer (metastasis) keeps the name of the original, primary cancer. For example, pancreatic cancer that has spread to the liver is called metastatic pancreatic cancer.
