Produced by Elsevier Science and part of the Engineering Village platform, this database indexes journals, books, conference proceedings and reports in the earth sciences, including geology, human and physical geography, environmental sciences, oceanography, geomechanics, alternative energy sources, pollution, waste management and nature conservation.
The GeoRef database, established by the American Geological Institute (AGI) in 1966, provides primarily citation and abstracts access to the geoscience literature of the world. The database contains references to geoscience journal articles, books, maps, conference papers, reports and theses. It covers the geology of North America from 1693 to the present and the geology of the rest of the world from 1933 to the present. References to all publications of the U.S. Geological Survey are included. Masters' theses and doctoral dissertations from US and Canadian universities are also covered. Included is the GeoRef in process database which contains records that are in the process of being indexed prior to their integration in the main GeoRef database. Some full text is available by linking to subscribed journals.
