Point of care tools, also called "pre-appraised resources", or "evidence summaries", are resources designed to be used by the clinician to aid decision-making when they are with a patient. They are easy to use and contain filtered information. Many evidence-based point-of-care tools include levels of evidence, rating scales or grade recommendations as well as citations or links back to the original research studies, systematic reviews, or guidelines. Each resource may contain a range of information on a topic (such as Up To Date or Dynamed Plus), or specific information, such as drug advice (eg. Mims Online) or guidelines.
If you have any questions about these tools please contact your Clinical Librarian.
