Career planning for Arts students

Think about your life goals

Action Plan: act on it now!

Notepad with pen

As an undergraduate you need to think about your career. Start laying some foundations to guide your University choices.

 - Join an industry or professional association. Consider your interests, aspirations and see what groups are out there.

- Network with people. Look for ways to do this online too through social media sites like LinkedIn.

-Use the Macquarie resources, like 'Macquarie Mentors' and the Career and Employment Service to guide your choices.

- Contact a couple of places where you'd like to work. What would they like to see on your resume in 3 years time? Work towards that.

- See if you can work in your proposed industry in the breaks. Get something on your resume now.

Possible career avenues with an Arts degree

Sense of direction and purpose: Feel more confident about where your studies could take you.
Get the most out of university: Identify the courses, experiences and clubs that will enhance your future prospects.
Don't just get a job, get a great job: Become the confident, motivated person employers are looking for and market yourself effectively.
