EndNote 20 for Windows

Restoring EndNote CWYW toolbar

  1. In Word, go to File>Options>Add-ins
  2. At the bottom of the Add-ins page go to Manage drop down menu select Disabled Items and Go…
  3. On the Disabled items page, Highlight any EndNote or CWYW add-ins and click on Enable>OK. Close and open Word again and the EndNote tab should display.

If there is nothing in the Disabled items page:

  1. Select COM Add-ins and Go... in the Manage drop menu
  2. On the COM Add-Ins page check if there is any EndNote cite while you write has been ticked. If not tick it and click OK

If there is no EndNote cite while you write there:

  1. On the COM Add-Ins page select Add button
  2. Browse your computer to the following location:  C:\Program Files\Common Files\ResearchSoft\Cwyw\20\
  3. Select "EndNote CWYW.dll" file, click on OK and OK again to close the COM Add-ins screen. The EndNote tools should now be in Word.

Note: If you have Common files installed in a different location, you would need to find this CWYW folder in that other location.

If after initial installation you find that the CWYW Toolbar has not installed, you may need to run the Configure EndNote utility.

1. Go to the program folder for EndNote20 on your C Drive.

2. Select the "Configure EndNote" utility and double click to run.

3. This will open the EndNote Configuration Utility. Select Next.

4. On the Select Components page make sure the "Cite While You Write add-in for Microsoft Office" box is checked. Click Next to finish the configuration process.
