EndNote 20 for Mac

Step by step Instructions for Importing Factiva records

Step 1: Conduct search in Factiva

Step 2: Select the articles that you want to add to your EndNote library by ticking the box at the left of the records

Step 3: Click on 'Display Options' on the top right hand side of the page and select 'Full article/report plus indexing'

Step 4: Click on the 'Save (Disk)' icon and select 'Article Format' and a pop up screen will appear with the records

Step 5: Chrome does not give you the option of saving files as text files. You need to copy and paste the results to the Texteditor and save the file to the desktop as a .txt file

  • Click on 'Edit' and 'Select All' on the records screen

  • Then click on 'Edit' and 'Copy' to copy the whole record

  • In Finder look for 'Applications' and 'Textedit'

  • In Textedit click on 'Edit' and 'Paste' to paste the record to the texteditor

  • Then click on 'Format' and 'Make Plain Text' to change the record to plain text

  • Click on 'File' and 'Save' and save the file as [Given Name].txt to the Desktop

Step 6: Open Endnote 20. Click on 'File' and 'Import' and an import file screen will pop up. Choose the .txt file you have just created on your desktop

Step 7: Make sure the 'Import Options' box at the bottom shows 'Factiva _DJ_MQ_forMac' (the filter you have downloaded before) and click 'Import'. The records will now be imported into your EndNote library.
